Postdoctoral Fellow in Population Genomics
Peta is a molecular biologist with a strong research interest in exploring the processes that accompany evolutionary change and understanding population responses to anthropogenic factors.
Peta’s research has linked environmental and population demographic processes to sex chromosome evolution using a live-bearing Tasmanian reptile. Peta is currently examining the interaction between population dynamics and the environment by using a long-term dataset on Simpson Desert rodents and simulations to understand how genetic diversity responds to episodic climate. In addition, she is interested in biodiversity monitoring using eDNA including the design of species-specific assays for detecting cryptic and endangered species.
We are a multidisciplinary team providing DNA-based solutions, training and products to support the uptake of eDNA in biosecurity and biodiversity applications.
EcoDNA acknowledges the Ngunnawal people, traditional custodians of the lands where we are situated. We wish to acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of Canberra and the region. We also acknowledge all other First Nations Peoples on whose lands we gather.
