The ecoDNA team can provide scientific and technical training for public and private stakeholders and laboratory personnel in Australian and international partner laboratories.
Current training courses available in 2025
This course focuses on the practical skills you need for eDNA extraction and analysis at the highest QA/QC standard, delivered in a hands-on environment.
During this course you will receive hands on training in:
• eDNA experimental design
• eDNA extraction
• qPCR Amplification
• Amplicon library prep for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)
• Bioinformatics
This course is limited to 4 persons per cohort. This means that you will receive dedicated hands-on, practical training.
Each course runs for 4 consecutive days.
This course is designed for those that are currently employed in a laboratory environment or are undertaking an Honours or PhD research project or are employed in research on an active research project.
Participants must have an existing understanding of laboratory & chemical safety, as well as basic-level molecular biology techniques. For bioinformatics, familiarity with R is recommended, but not required.
Participants will engage in an initial on-line meeting to discuss specific needs after acceptance to the course.
Participants will be required to complete an online induction course prior to the start date to be able to access the laboratories.
The price of the course is $2,985 (inc. GST) per person. Group discounts may be available for cohorts from a single organisation attending the same course.
Inclusions:
Safety equipment including protective laboratory gear (including gloves, lab gown, shoe coverings) required during the course
Use of laboratory equipment/reagents during the course
Sampling kits for use during the course
What is not included?
Travel to the University of Canberra, accommodation, per diems, meals.
You will need to bring your own laptop with Design & Analysis 2.6.0, Microsoft Excel, & Biorad Image Lab software

Payment
For individuals, an invoice will be sent to you on confirmation of acceptance to the course.
Our payment terms are 30 days from the date of invoice.
For organisations booking for multiple participants, we will issue an invoice when a purchase order or relevant letter of authority is received by us.
Changes and cancellations by ecoDNA
If we cancel or change a course date, we will offer you a refund of the course fee (if already paid), or the opportunity to transfer to a later course date.
Changes and cancellations by participants
We request that you provide your cancellation of participation or request for any refunds in writing (including email).
We are not able to provide refunds if you cancel after a course start date, full course fee is payable for non-attendance.
General
In these terms, Business Days means any day in the Australian Capital Territory which is not a public holiday, Saturday or Sunday.
All prices for short courses include Goods and Services Tax (GST) where applicable.
